Specification for Locking Trochanter Stabilizing Plate for DHS
- The Dynamic Hip Screw Plate’s extension, the Locking Trochanter Stabilizing Plate, was created with the following purposes in mind:
- By anchoring to the greater trochanter, it prevents diaphyseal medialization.
- It makes it possible to insert an extra parallel antirotation screw that acts as a superolateral tension band. The atirotation screw requires slightly more caudal positioning of the screw when in use compared to the conventional method.
- It enables the greater trochanter to be further internally fixed proximally using locking head screws.
- It keeps the Dynamic Hip Screw Plate’s capacity for dynamization.
- The benefits of angular stability
- Without running the risk of the screws coming undone, locked angle-stable screws can be fixed monocortically even in soft bone. Without the use of cerclage wires, the greater trochanter can be stabilized as a functional entity thanks to the high stability of the screws in the plate. Fix the plate without compressing the bone over or through the gluteus medius muscle. The plate protects bone vascularity by acting as an internal fixator.
- Additional Locking Trochanter features To help stabilize the greater trochanter and make it easier to insert an anti-rotation screw into the femoral head, Stabilizing Plate Locking Trochanter Stabilization Plate extends the Dynamic Hip Screw Plate and Locking Dynamic Hip Screw Plate constructs.
- Provides buttress support to stop the fracture from medializing and slipping into valgus, which limits medialization.
- Stops rotation: It is possible to insert 6.5 mm/7.3 mm cannulated screws through the plate, cranially and in line with the Dynamic Hip Screw Lag Screw. The plate prevents the anti-rotation screw from sinking into osteopenic bone by allowing it to pass through it.
- Use locking head screws to achieve an additional proximal internal fixation in place of a cerclage (cerclage is still an option).
- There is only one size needed (plates can be cut).
- The plate can be easily bent to fit the various anatomical conditions.
- Both stainless steel and titanium plates are available.
Uses of Locking Trochanter Stabilizing Plate for DHS
The Locking Trochanter Stabilizing Plate is used to treat both stable and unstable proximal femur fractures:
- Intertrochanteric
- Subtrochanteric
- Pertrochanteric
- fractures of the basilar neck
