Specification for Eight Plate

Growth that is directed by using When treating children who are still growing, eight plates are the standard method for correcting angular limb deformities. The physeal periphery is where the tethering occurs, while the rest of the physis is free to grow. This is the fundamental principle. The epiphysiodesis procedure, which is used to correct limb-length discrepancy, is another application of the method.

The Guided Growth Eight Plates System is designed to function like a flexible hinge, and it has the potential to temporarily inhibit bone growth in the region where the plates and screws are applied.

  • Bone growth is not inhibited in the remaining areas of the growth plate when only one side of the physis is tethered (hemiepiphysiodesis). This provides the potential to redirect the growth of long bones to gradually correct angular deformities of the lower limbs.
  • Through the process of tethering two opposing sides of the same physis, the growth of the bone in the longitudinal direction can be temporarily halted. This creates the opportunity to correct limb length disparities.
  • The plates each have two corresponding holes.
  • You have your choice of one of three different lengths. 12 mm, 16 mm and 20 mm.
  • Plate holes are able to accommodate either 3.5 mm cortical or 4 mm cancellous screws.
  • Dedicated to the process of gradually correcting deformities of long bones in children who are still growing
  • Early weight bearing at the discretion of the surgeon and depending on how well the patient is able to tolerate it.
  • plate that has already been pre-contoured to match the shape of the anatomy.
  • Both titanium and stainless steel are readily available in this product.
  • locking plate improves the construct’s stability and lowers the risk of screw back-out, which would otherwise lead to a loss of reduction. Additionally, it lessens the need for precise anatomic plate contouring and decreases the likelihood that screw holes will become stripped.
  • For the price of Eight Plates, one can purchase a complete Instruments Set. This plate can be used with general instruments such as a plate bending press, plate holding forceps, plate bending pliers, bone holding forceps, bone elevators, bone cutter, bone nibbler, depth gauge, sleeve, screw driver, trocar sleeve and so on.

Uses of Eight Plate

  • When correcting angular deformities such as genu valgum or varus with epiphysiodesis, eight plates are utilised for control and correction of the condition.
  • The tension band provided by Eight Plates helps to restore the physiological axis of the body. The tension band plate, which has screws attached to either side of the physis, produces a fulcrum that is not rigid and is located outside of the physis. This results in the moment arm being relatively lengthened. Because the hardware is held in place with screws, the possibility of it falling out is very low.
  • Plates could be utilised and applied to the regions surrounding the joints of the knee, hip, or ankle, as well as the regions surrounding the elbow and wrist.
