Specification for Humeral Nails

The Humeral (Humerus) Nail System has the following advantages over rival products:

  •  short operational period
  • very little morbidity
  • early restoration of the extremity’s function
  • 90% of the time, no outside assistance is required.
  • closed method
  • low rate of infection
  • extremely effective pain relief when stabilizing pathological fractures
  • In contrast to Plate and Screw Osteosynthesis:
  •  minimal deterioration of the vasculature, connective tissue, and muscles
  • decreased periosteal stripping and simultaneous soft tissue injury
  • a decrease in radial nerve palsies
  • Designed to share loads rather than bear them
  • aesthetically more subtle incision
  • The superior biomechanical intramedullary stabilization is realized by the humeral (Humerus) Nail System.
  •  The system gives users a choice of several locking modes:
  • Advanced locking; Static, transverse/oblique; Dynamic; Apposition/compression
  •  In some circumstances, inserting a compression screw from the top of the nail can be used to apply a controlled apposition or compression of bone fragments. After using the apposition/compression feature, the nail can be locked to further increase rotational stability.
  •  The distal or proximal segment is drawn toward the fracture site by the compression screw as it is pushed against the proximal Partially Threaded Locking Screw (Shaft Screw) that has been inserted into the oblong hole. This has the biomechanical benefit of actively circumferentially compressing the fracture site in stable fractures, axially loading the bone, and decreasing the role of the nail as a load bearing device.
  •  The likelihood of implant failure due to fatigue may be decreased by this capacity to transfer load back to the bone. There have been reports of failure rates of more than 20% for typical statically locked nails used as load bearing devices.
  •  Typical 4mm cortical screws make surgery easier. For standard locking procedures, fully threaded locking screws are available.
  • Shaft Screws with partial threading are intended to apply apposition or compression.
  •  To close the fracture site, one common humeral compression screw is used. End Caps are also available in six sizes to provide a better fit for every indication, allow for nail length adaptation after insertion, and prevent bone ingrowth.

Uses of Humeral Nails

  • Uses for Humeral (Humerus) Nails
  • The indications for humeral (Humerus) nail include:
  •  The purpose of humeral nails is to temporarily stabilize various humerus fractures, malunions, and nonunions.
  • The nails can be static, dynamic, or compression locked, and they can be inserted using an opened or closed technique.
  • The humerus is the intended location for the subject and predicate devices.
  • In addition to humeral shaft fractures, other types of fractures include non-unions, misalignments, pathological humeral fractures, and imminent pathological fractures.
  • Nails of the Humerus (Humerus): Contraindications
  •  any infection, whether latent or active, or any obvious local inflammation in or near the affected area.
  • compromised vascularity that would prevent the fracture or the surgical site from receiving enough blood.
  • bone stock that has been damaged by illness, infection, or previous implantation and cannot support or fix the devices properly.
  • bone stock that has been damaged by illness, infection, or previous implantation and cannot support or fix the devices properly.
  • Patients with insufficient tissue over the surgical site. Contraindications Relative Symptoms, Safety Concerns, and Contraindications.
  • Using implants in a way that could affect how well certain bodily functions or structures work.
  • any mental or neuromuscular condition that poses an unacceptably high risk of fixation failure or postoperative complications.
  • Other medical or surgical issues that would prevent surgery’s potential benefits.
